What pigments did Velázquez use in Las Meninas?

Las Meninas is one of the most famous paintings in Europe´s Art History. I recently saw it, and wondered: what pigments were used in Velázquez´s masterpiece? Find out here.

At the beginning of March, I went to the Museo del Prado in Madrid, mostly to see one of my favourite paintings: Las Meninas. I decided to do a little research about the pigments used by Velázquez, and I wrote a post about it in my Spanish website. I had planned to translate it into a post for Substack, but instead had the idea of doing something shorter and more visual for the newsletter. I hope you like it.
